Welcome to Qigong Tao
The Way of Qigong with Master Alex Lim
Qigong (chi-kung) is the ancestor of a number of Chinese health & healing therapies and is also the foundation for Tai Chi. It has been practiced for more than 5000 years.
As Master Alex Lim explains during his classes, Qigong is flexing exercise, breathing, balancing and mind focus.
When the positions are demonstrated, it's easy to confuse Qigong with its much younger, and more famous, progeny Tai Chi, but there's much, much more to it. Qigong is a series of exercises, from soft and static to hard, put together by Taoist sages and healers of ancient times, and further developed by Buddhist monks.
The "soft" flexing exercises can be used by the elderly, people in hospital, even wheelchairs, "static" is for meditation, while the "hard" is used by exponents of martial arts such as kung fu.
These exercises were designed to unblock the acupuncture meridians, or channels, so that the chi (life) energy can flow smoothly to supply the whole body.
The "soft" exercises can be used by the elderly, people in hospital, even wheelchairs, the "static" ones are excellent for meditation, while the "hard" is used by exponents of martial arts such as kung fu.
But people shouldn't expect an instant fix, just as by putting a single grain of sand on top of another you could eventually have a mountain, Qigong takes time to achieve optimum results, though practitioners of Qigong have been known to get rid of their ailments or diseases in a matter of weeks or months of practice!
Qigong is an ancient method of cultivating life force... unlike our instant everything society the mastery of anything takes some time and conscious effort to become good at it or to get the benefit. The benefits of long term dedication to the art are worth the effort.
In the modern, developed countries, now spreading more and more to under-developed third world countries, is the notion of getting 'instant' everything. Instant health, instant healing, instant mastery, instant wealth.

It maybe subjective sensations such as feeling bright-eyed, clearheaded, high-spirited, euphoric, or at perfect peace. Or purely physical such as increased stamina, better digestion, improved circulation increased resistance to disease and less tiredness and fatigue or getting rid of symptoms. The ultimate aim of practising Qigong is to facilitate spiritual enlightenment. On the way there you reach optimum health.
In China it's said Qigong can be practiced for curing illness, prevention of disease, strengthening the constitution, avoiding premature ageing and prolonging life. Glowing with good health, lean muscles fit and taut, Master Alex Lim is a testament to the Qigong he practices daily - along with teaching.
Master Lim also runs tours to Bali, where he combines his passion for Qigong with a love of the tropical island, acting both as teacher and tour guide in luscious settings, including the mountain town of Ubud, one of his favourite places.
Master Alex Lim currently runs classes at Applecross, North Fremantle, White Gum Valley and Nollamara in Perth, Western Australia. He also conducts workshops and seminars in Australia and overseas.
The next Bali tour is planned for later in the year depending on numbers. For more information please contact Master Alex Lim.
* CAUTION
Because Qigong is dealing with "life force" itself, just like 'pranayama', it is advisable to learn it from competent teachers who "walk the talk". One way to find these teachers is to ask around, and to observe these teachers, and see how "healthy" they are physically, mentally and spiritually!
